Elopement Weddings

Small intermit weddings or Elopement Weddings have certainly become more and more popular over the last few years. With the current situation and restrictions on wedding guests in 2020 due to the Coronavirus Pandemic, Elopement Weddings have come into the lime light even more....

With the massive expense of arranging a large wedding party of 100 guests or more, can be a very daunting task for anyone. Considering a UK wedding now comes in at an average of £32,273, an elopement could save you a lot of money. An elopement in Gretna Green can start from as little as £195 for the ceremony; a pop-up wedding in the UK from £3,300. So you can see why Elopement Weddings are very popular these days.

An Elopement Wedding is completely legal within the UK provided that you follow the age of consent law and have a valid marriage license.

Are you looking to have a more relaxed and chilled wedding day that you can enjoy with your closest friends and family, then an Elopement Wedding is the way to go. The whole day is relaxed and less formal than a traditional wedding, although this is not always the case. Couples do love to get dressed up and with an Elopement Wedding, you can have it exactly as you want and with locations that would not normally be available with a traditional large wedding day.

Where do people have Elopement Weddings?

You can have an Elopement Wedding anywhere you would like as long as the venue has a valid wedding license. These style weddings can range from getting married in a small church to getting married on the top of a mountain in the Lake District.

Planning Your Elopement Wedding....

Location.  Find a place that is special to you both or go on a adventure! One of the perks of eloping means you can go anywhere, and do anything that makes you both happy!

Clothing.  Leave the wedding reception behind. I definitely suggest getting a dress that will allow you to move around, hike up a trail and be comfortable in. For shoes, most couples bring a pair of trainers or hiking boots along with their formal shoes.

Witnesses.

Depending on where in the world you are getting married, legal weddings in the UK have to take place in a building or structure that is legally sanctioned. You legally won’t need witnesses but it’s totally up to you if you want to bring a best friend or two, even your closest family members for support!

Time of year.

A massive benefit to elopements is that you aren’t stuck with a summer Saturday as your date. Practically any time of year works great and the added flexibility of being able to do the ceremony wherever you like also helps.

After party.

You’re married and you can always throw a party back home! If you let me know in advance, I can have your images edited so that they’re ready, if you’re planning on doing a slideshow of the images at the party.
